On the Town for July 3-5

Events in Medford, Ashland, Klamath Falls, and Yreka

All eyes will be watching the skies this weekend, as several Fourth of July celebrations take place throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California. Perhaps one of the biggest events will be Medford's traditional, "Red, White, and Boom" celebration. Hundreds of people are expected to pack into and around Harry and David Field to watch the spectacular display. Food vendors will be on hand to satisfy your appetite, and there'll be children's games to entertain the little ones before it's time for the main event. Seating is available at a first-come-first-served basis. Gates open at 6:30, fireworks begin at 9:45.

In Ashland, the Annual Fourth of July Parade begins around 10 am, with a fireworks display at the SOU Athletic Field at 10 pm.

In Northern California, Saturday will be jam packed with activities for the whole family starting with a parade at 11 am. Following the parade, Miner Park will host three different bands for a musical afternoon. Then, when it gets dark, catch the fireworks show at the Siskiyou County Fairgrounds.

Klamath Falls will be joining in the fun this fourth, with a parade running through downtown from 10 to 3, a street fair on Main Street after 3, enjoy live music, games and other activities at Veteran's Park. Of course there will also be a fireworks later that night over Lake Euwana.

Red, White and Blue aren't the only colors to celebrate this weekend. Go Green at the Medford Armory at the first ever "Oregon Green Expo." See first hand new technologies, products and services from local businesses. Participate in hands on activities like: how to weatherize your home, creating community gardens, and the in's-and-outs of recycling. There will also be music, a kid's zone for children, a "Greenest Home" contest, as well as local organic food events.
