On the Town for May 28-31
Events in Central Point, Medford and Talent
Put on your boots and grab your cowboy hat, the Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo is back at the Jackson County Fairgrounds this weekend for three days of rodeo fun! Thursday through Saturday, entertain yourself or the whole family with activities both inside the arena and outside. There will be a carnival, as well as tractor and pony rides for the kids. And saddle up for the main events, from bull riding to barrel racing. The competition should be fierce.
Gates open at 5:30 each night.
You and your pooch can get a little sun and exercise this Saturday. Dogs for the Deaf will be hosting their annual Dog Walk at Hawthorne Park in Medford. Enjoy food and fun with the family pet. There'll be contests to show off your dog and win some prizes. This year the categories include: "Best Trick," "Best High-5," and a special owner/pet category "Best Oregon Pioneer Costume!" The money raised will help the organization rescue more dogs to be trained and placed with people who have special hearing needs. Sign up today -- the event starts Saturday at 8:30 AM.
Also this weekend, the Camelot Theater will be highlighting the life and career of famous singer-songwriter, Hoagy Carmichael. During his lengthy career, Carmichael worked and composed songs for musical legends including Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, and Duke Ellington. The play opens Friday and runs through June 7th, with evening performances at 8 PM and sunday matinees at 2 PM.
