OSP: 2 Suffer Minor Injuries in Wreck

Three people received non-life threatening injuries Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 224 about 2 1/2 miles east of Carver. One of the vehicles traveled off the highway and down an approximate 80-foot embankment from which the occupant was removed by a coordinated effort involving personnel from Boring and Clackamas Fire districts and American Medical Response.

On May 31, 2009 at approximately 8:35 a.m. a 1977 Volkswagen Beetle convertible driven by ALEXANDRIA ANDERSON, age 24, from Canby, was westbound on Highway 224 negotiating a curve near SE 197th Avenue when the driver lost control and drove into the eastbound lane. The Volkswagen collided into the passenger side of an eastbound Jeep Sahara sport utility vehicle driven by TAMMY LYNN WISSMAN, age 43, from Boring. The impact caused the Jeep to roll onto its top.

The Volkswagen continued off the south highway shoulder and rolled down an embankment about 80 feet.

According to Boring Fire District news release sent this afternoon, ANDERSON's rescue required a full complement High Angle Rope Rescue. Boring Fire District, American Medical Response and Clackamas Fire District cooperatively performed this rescue and cleared the scene shortly after packaging and transporting both drivers.

ANDERSON was transported by AMR to Oregon Health Sciences University. She was using safety restraints.

A passenger in the Jeep identified as DAVID P. HENSLEY, age 19, from Boring, was transported by AMR to Mt. Hood Medical Center. He was using safety restraints.

WISSMAN was using safety restraints and had minor injuries but refused medical transport.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. No enforcement action has been taken.

Highway 224 was closed approximately 90 minutes. ODOT also assisted at the scene.
