DA: No 'official misconduct' by Central Point cop who impregnated Crater student
CENTRAL POINT, Ore. -- The criminal investigation of a Central Point school resource officer found no official misconduct but did confirm he had supplied his former underage student with alcohol.
Central Point Police Officer Dan Brown impregnated the girl, whom he met when she was a 4th-grader, and they are now a couple.
Josephine County District Attorney Stephen Campbell, ending a review of an Oregon State Police investigation of Brown, said Thursday that there was no credible proof that Brown had sex with the 2009 Crater High School graduate before she turned 18, and no evidence that any of their sexual activity occurred while he was on duty as a police officer or as a liaison officer to the schools.

But Brown did supply alcohol for her at a new year's eve party at the start of this year, the DA found.
Brown's employer, the Central Point Police Department fired brown for violating department policy. But Campbell says the investigation found nothing to qualify brown for "official misconduct" charges. Campbell adds that the police department handled the case appropriately.
Brown will face a charge of providing alcohol to a minor.
Brown says he met his six-month pregnant girlfriend when she was in 4th grade and he was a DARE officer.
In an exclusive News10 interview last month, Brown said he looks forward to putting this behind him and raising the child his former student is pregnant with.
Campbell conducted the investigation at the request of Jackson County District Attorney Mark Huddleston, who deferred the case to avoid a conflict of interest.
