Local Elementary School Closing; Student Transfers Uncertain
A Josephine County School is closing for lack of money.
The Three Rivers School Board voted Thursday night to close Wolf Creek Elementary at the end of this school year. The vote was 5-1.
Many of the displaced Wolf Creek students will transfer to Manzanita or Glendale. But first the school board has to reconsider its strict ban on inter-district transfers. That issue will come up at the March 9 board meeting.
A multi-billon dollar state budget shortfall has schools across the state, including those in Medford and Ashland, considering closing or cutting school days.
