Deli's Out-of-Business Sale Draws New Business Owners
The latest casualty of the economic storm was the Schlotzsky's deli on Biddle road in Medford. But it's not all bad news for some people.
Local small business owners carried out restaurant supplies from the deli Saturday morning and piled up on deep discounts.
These Medford and Ashland cafe entrepreneurs stacked Schlotzsky's furniture into trucks, planning to furnish their own stores opening soon.
One couple about to open a new deli in Medford scored big at the going-out-of-business sale and spent less than 3-thousand dollars.
They say in this economic downturn they need all the help they can get.
"It's sad, it's very sad. We're not getting money to help our stores succeed or to get over the hump," says Amber Hamm, a new small business owner.
Hamn says in addition to the chairs and tables piled up on the rental truck... She also found bargain outdoor furniture at failed deli.
