On the Town for June 12-14

Who knew history could be so much fun! This Saturday it's time for the annual "Taste of History" in Medford. The day features tasty treats and regional wine, local artists and musicians and you can even take a tour of the historical downtown buildings. Treat yourself to a day of food, fun, and a bit of history. Tours begin at 10am and are free to the public.

Speaking of history, take a step back in time this Saturday and celebrate Oregon's 150th birthday in Jacksonville. The day starts with a parade where you will see covered wagons and classic cars, followed by outhouse races, children's activities, a dutch over cooking demonstration, and there will even be a historical re-enactment of a wild west gun battle. The fun begins at 10am and runs until 4pm.

Mom's often have difficult decisions to make. Beginning this weekend that's made evident in the play: "Secrets of a Soccer Mom" which opens at the Rogue Playhouse in Gold Beach. The comedy, written by Kathleen Clark, features three women who compete against their sons in a soccer game. The ultimate question becomes should the moms let their sons win or show them how it's done. The surprising, yet funny twists and turns will keep the audience entertained. Performances run through June 28th.

And Britt kicks off it's 2009 season this weekend with its first performance Friday night with Los Lonely Boys. The popular Texas trio is back in Jacksonville again with their performance starting at 7:30pm. And India Arie follows on Saturday. Both reserved and lawn seats are still available for these performances.
