Burning Urge Sends Accused Smoker To Jail
Where there's fire there's smoke... and that sent a Mill City man to the Jackson County jail early this morning.
Police say William Wahl set a "No Smoking" sign on fire inside a Medford strip club. That followed Wahl's attempt to light up a cigarette inside The Office, according to police. He was told that's not allowed anymore under a new Oregon law.
Step two was to sneak a smoke inside a bathroom. When a bouncer tried to stop him, Wahl reportedly set a paper "No Smoking" sign on fire, sending it up ion smoke but doing no other damage.
That got him charged with reckless burning and disorderly conduct.
And he was taken to jail... where you're also not allowed to smoke.
Wahl, who is 6'4" and 214 pounds, remained in jail Wednesday morning on $6,000 bail.
