Last minute back to school shoppers hit the stores
MEDFORD, Ore. -- It's Labor Day and you know what that means, school starts Tuesday for most kids in our area and many did their last minute shopping Monday.
Some teachers, like Judy O'Neill, even unlocked her door at Hedrick Middle School on her last day off to make sure everything runs smoothly for the first day of class.
"This is my 27th first day of school. Even though I've taught for so many years, I still get very excited," O'Neill said.
At the stores, it was a mad rush of last minute back to school shoppers as students get ready to head to class.
For many, the shopping list was long and the shelves were already picked over.
Last minute back to school shoppers loaded up the carts with what they could, not just the backpacks and crayons but the first day of school outfit too.
Many said they'll even come back to do more shopping once school starts.
Ken Bendat said he waited until last minute to get his boys' supplies for school because he hasn't had a chance.
"I probably should have been here days ago," he said.
Bendat said he'll be hitting a few more stores for erasers and colored pencils because so many people have wiped the school supply aisles clean.
