Let the ringing begin

MEDFORD ORE. – The 40th Annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon starts Sunday evening. The fundraiser will be held for 21 hours.

It has been a tradition with KTVL for 40 years.

MDA Coordinator Arlene Wedsted says it's a year long effort to raise money for those with muscular dystrophy.

“We start planning for the telethon as soon as it's over,” said Wedsted.

Muscular Dystrophy is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that weakens a person's muscles.

MDA is letting people text their donation to 2022 and $10 will be added to their phone bill.

The credit cards accepted are: Visa, American Express, Mastercard and Discover.

Around 100 volunteers are helping out telethon. Five people will be staying overnight to make sure things run smoothly.

Wedsted says she couldn’t do it without all of the volunteers.
