OSP stop leads to marijuana bust, 2 arrests
Comments 0 | Recommend 0HINES, Ore. -- Oregon State Police troopers made a fourth marijuana seizure during the last five weeks during a traffic stop 11 miles west of Hines. Two Montana residents were arrested Tuesday on Highway 20 when troopers found approximately 1 pound of marijuana in their vehicle.
At 4:45 PM a patrol trooper from the OSP John Day office and fish & wildlife trooper from the Burns office stopped a Chevrolet van on Highway 20 near milepost 117 for a traffic violation. The two occupants were identified as driver PETER PETRI, 42, and passenger KIMBERLY EICKMAN, 48, both from White Fish, Mont.
Subsequent investigation related to the traffic stop led to the discovery of a pound of marijuana in the van.
PETRI was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants – Drugs and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana. EICKMAN was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana.
Both were lodged at the Harney County Correctional Facility.
OSP troopers in the Burns area have been involved in three other marijuana-related seizures during traffic stops in the previous five weeks. Those stops included a Nov. 16 arrest of two California residents following the discovery of 10 pounds of marijuana.
