First Day Back in Brand New Schools

MEDFORD, Ore. --It was the first day, in a new schools for some Medford students.

After two and a half years, students and teachers moved back into Jackson and Roosevelt Elementary Schools while they were being renovated.  Both schools were shut down back in 2007 because they were deemed structurally unsafe.  Students and teachers were displaced to area schools while Jackson and Roosevelt were revamped from the inside out.

Both schools now have air conditioning, internet access, better security, and brand new classrooms.  Both Principal Anne Mitchell of Roosevelt and Principal Tom Ettel of Jackson say the biggest improvement is having classrooms grouped by grade around common learning areas in lieu of hallways.
