Office Manager Suspected of Embezzling $250,000 from Medford Doctor's Office
Wrapping up an investigation that began April 21, the Medford Police Department on Wednesday arrested an office manager on charges of aggravated theft, ID theft and forgery in a quarter-million dollar embezzlement case.
Medford police got the call in April from Renal Care Consultants on Golf View Drive in southeast Medford. A detective was assigned and developed information implicating long-term employee Paula Liisa Schranz, who was the business administrator and was responsible for managing the office, staff and bookkeeping.
Investigators believe that between January 2006 and April 2009, Schranz embezzled in excess of $250,000 from the business in addition to forging the signatures of two doctors who are owners of the practice. Police say she used the money for personal items.
Schranz surrendered herself to detectives Wednesday at 1:30 PM and was booked into the Jackson County Jail where she remained Wednesday evening under $100,000 bail.
The case remains under investigation.
