Authorities: One Dead, One Injured After Medford Fourth of July Party
One man is in the hospital and another is dead after a Fourth of July party in Medford takes an ugly turn, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department
Authorities say 22-year-old Jacob Hines is recovering at the Rogue Valley Medical Center after a fight broke out at a Jackson County Independence Day party near Griffin Creek Road around 3 a.m.
They say Hines was apparently hit in the head with a large stick, fracturing his skull.
Sheriffs deputies say they found Hines after being called out to a car crash in the area.
The crash killed 26-year-old James May, a passenger, authorities say.
His driver 21-year-old, Doug Anderson has not been arrested, according to deputies, but they say they believe alcohol was a "major" factor in the crash.
If you have any information the Jackson County Sheriffs Department wants to hear from you.
