OSP Nabs 13 Pounds of Pot Near Ashland
Oregon State Police and a drug-detection dog seized approximately 13 pounds of marijuana concealed in a
vehicle during a Friday afternoon traffic stop on Interstate 5 in the
Ashland area.
At noon, OSP troopers stopped a 2009
Dodge Charger for a traffic violation northbound on I-5 near
milepost 11. OSP was assisted at the scene by a Shady Cove police officer
and his narcotics detection dog.
Troopers arrested the driver, Raymond E. Chance, 27, from Longview,
Wash., and passenger Kevin Dean Christensen (aka: Christopherson),
29, from Rainier, Ore. Both were lodged at the Jackson County
Jail for Unlawful Possession, Manufacturing, and Possession of a
Controlled Substance – Marijuana.
Chance is still in custody at the jail. Christensen reportedly bailed out over the weekend.
Estimated value of the seized marijuana was $35,000.
