Bank robbery in Medford

In this week's Crime Stoppers, an armed man is running from police after robbing a Medford bank.

Police say the man entered the Liberty Bank on East Barnett Road at about 10:30 this morning. He showed the teller a hand gun and a note demanding money. The suspect ran off with an undisclosed amount of money - heading toward the Winco grocery store.

He's described as a white male, in his late 50's or early 60's with gray hair and a beard. He's about 6' two" tall, with a slender build, and was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, a tan shirt, blue jeans and glasses.

Police say it's a common crime this time of year. Lt. Tim Doney of the Medford Police Department said, "This is what we refer to as robbery season anytime after halloween we have a spike in robberies unfortunately not real unusual."

Police are searching for the suspect in surrounding neighborhoods, and a forensic specialist and FBI investigator have been brought on scene. Police think this armed man could have robbed a bank in San Rafael, California, on December 11th. Medford Police are talking to police there and are hoping for your help catching this guy.

The case number is 123008. If you have any information concerning a possible suspect in this crime... call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-3-DETECT. Sonitrol will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and the filing of charges, and you can remain anonymous if you would like.
