POLICE: Medford Bank 'Robber' Just Wanted to Get Arrested
A Medford man who presented a bank teller with a robbery demand also included a request that a robbery alarm be activated so he could "just wait for the police in the lobby," police reported.
Medford police responded to Key Bank on East Main Street in downtown Medford at 2:34 PM Monday on a report of a robbery in progress. They found 61-year-old Kenneth William Metzker, of the 200 block of North Holly in Medford, inside and took him into custody without incident.
Metzker pleaded guilty to robbing the same bank branch on June 13, 2002, when he was arrested as he exited the bank onto Main Street, police reported. He did not use a weapon in either case.
After investigating the incident, investigators lodged the suspect at the Jackson County Jail on a charge of disorderly conduct rather than robbery. No money was taken in this crime. Metzker was no longer listed as an inmate Tuesday morning.
The same branch was robbed by a Sacramento transient a couple weeks ago; Medford police arrested that suspect in under 5 minutes.
