DALLAS, Ore. -- New confirmed cases of swine flu are reported in Polk, Multnomah and Clackamas counties, bringing the state total to 48. More than a third of the cases are in Polk County.
The Salem Statesman Journal says health officials initially were concerned that Polk County might be the epicenter of the outbreak in Oregon.
But investigators now indicate that isn't likely. They say the Polk County numbers likely are the result of more residents there getting tested.
State health specialists say the emergency response is ramping down and that procedures are reverting to normal flu monitoring.
