Former Cop Sentenced in Medford to Prison for Child Porn

MEDFORD, Ore. -- A judge sentenced a former police officer to more than three years in prison for encouraging child sexual abuse.
Jackson County Judge Ray White sentenced Mark Allen Heckerman on Monday to 20 months in prison for crimes committed on a desktop computer and 18 months for crimes on a laptop.
Officers last year searched Heckerman's home and seized digital images found to be child pornography.
The 43-year-old Heckerman owned a construction company at the time of his arrest. He previously worked for 18 years in law enforcement in Hawaii and California, and once tried to join the Ashland police force.
Heckerman must register as a sex offender after his release from prison.
