For Now, Mom Looks for Answers Alone but Asks for Your Help
It's been almost five years since Domingo Ramirez went missing. The 21-year-old left for a camping trip and never came home and his mom is still searching for his body.
Yvonne Company says she'll search alone if she has to and for the most part it seems like that's what she's been doing. The Josephine County Sheriff says they've done all they can so far with the search.
Company feels like a woman sitting in the shadows asking law enforcement to help her find her son. She says, "There is no closure. That's a word someone made up." Company has done her research and says she knows who might have killed her son. According to America's Most Wanted Joel Brian Orozco-Rico and Jose Luis Villegas Cavada are persons of interest, but the Josephine County Sheriff's office says until new information comes up they won't start another search for Domingo Ramirez. So, Company does what many mothers would do. She's taking the matter into her own hands and searching herself.
She says, "It doesn't keep me tethered to the house. I'm not going to sit here and wait for the phone call. I'm going to make the phone call." It's a call she feels she'll be making this year. She feels now, more than ever, she's going to find her son.
Behind tears Company says, "He would not want me to be sad like this. But I know if he were in my shoes he'd be doing the same thing."
Ramirez left his home in Selma with his pit bull 'Kandi'. The dog was shot several times, but was found alive several days later. For Company, that's tough. She says of the dog, "I look in her eyes and I know she has a story to tell." But Company knows the dog can't speak so she says it's up to her to find the final peace. For Company, finding the final piece will finally give her the peace she's been seeking for five years.
Company says she plans on meeting with the sheriff's office soon. She has a binder full of clues she hopes will prompt law enforcement to jump-start their search efforts again. Company is offering a $10,000 reward for information that will lead her to find her son.
