Injured Man Rescued From Alongside Rogue River
An injured man was rescued from alongside the Rogue River this afternoon. It's believed he may have been there for the past couple of days.
The man, identified as Gary Fulton, had a broken arm and had twisted a leg. He had also fallen into the river at some point, but managed to get himself out and build a fire to stay warm.
He called for help on an "emergency only" cell phone. He could call out to 911, but no one could call him.
Jackson County Search and Rescue launched a search and Fulton was spotted by a helicopter along the river above Lost Creek Reservoir, near where the South Fork of the Rogue meets the main section of the river. A second medical helicopter was called in to do the actual rescue. He's been taken to a hospital for treatment.
Jackson County Sheriff mike Winters says deputies had been looking for Fulton as part of a burglary investigation.
