Election Day in Ashland and Rogue River
ROGUE RIVER, ore. -- Two elections today in Ashland and Rogue River. In Ashland, residents voted on a 5 percent meal tax. In Rogue River, they voted on a property tax that would support the fire department. Rogue River's fire department says it needs the tax to continue its current level of operation. Some people say they want the tax in exchange for fire protection. Other's say they don't want to be taxed in such difficult economic times. Results on the election come out 8 o'clock Tuesday night. The Jackson County Clerk says she expects a 50% voter turnout.
