Part of Rogue River “restricted”
SAVAGE RAPIDS -- The Josephine County Sheriffs Office wants you to stay out of the river, near where the savage rapids dam used to be.
The flow has been blocked since the twenties. And now Josephine County Sheriffs say the newly exposed water way has made the river more dangerous.
Ernie Fields is a sheriffs deputy with Josephine County explained since the dam came down it has been a hazard. “It's been restricted since we have opened it, were just putting a caution to boaters that we don't want them in this area, because it is a hazard," said Fields Tuesday.
They say loose dirt and rocks are making it too treacherous for boaters. Field said the river is going through a transition period making the water unpredictable, in other words, they say its just plain unsafe.
