Rogue River police searching for indicted ex-boyfriend
ROGUE RIVER, Ore. -- Rogue River Police are asking the public to help them track down a man apparently threatening his ex-girlfriend after an indictment on domestic violence charges. Police say he also attempted to buy an AK-47 assault rifle in a local gun shop.
Robert Francis Poole, 29, was originally arrested on Feb. 11, in Rogue River on charges of domestic violence - felony, strangulation, harassment, and interfering with a 9-1-1 call after they say he assaulted his girlfriend at their Rogue River apartment in front of their 4-year-old child on Feb. 10. Police now want him to answer on new charges of stalking and tampering with a witness.
Poole had also ordered an AK-47 assault rifle through a local Grants Pass gun shop but that transaction was thwarted when Rogue River Police and the Portland office of the Bureau Of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms intervened.
Poole was ultimately indicted by a Jackson County Grand Jury in the assault incident, but shortly after his release from jail began threatening the victim and the victim's mother, who lives in the Grants Pass area, by sending text messages and photos, some which may have been child pornography. The latest incident reported to police was on Monday when either Poole, or someone acting on his behalf, took photos of the victim and her mother at a family event at a Grants Pass public park. Poole then allegedly emailed the photos to the victim with the caption "How safe do you feel now?"
Poole, originally from California, drives a white 2006 GMC pickup truck with tinted windows, California license 7X88847. On both doors there are small rectangular stickers of the "Gadsden Flag," a snake coiled on a field of yellow with the words "Don't Tread On Me." The stickers may have been removed.
Poole has made threats against the police and could possibly be armed. Police ask that anyone with information on his location shoudl stayu away from him and contact the Rogue River Police Department at 541-582-4931, or the Dispatch center at 541-776-7206.
