Central Point Woman Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash Near Terrebonne
TERREBONNE, Ore. -- Three people suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash today on Highway 97 near Terrebonne.
Oregon State Police report that at about 12:40 today a 2003 Mitsubishi coupe
driven by Michelle M. Nutter, 52, of Central Point, was southbound
on Highway 97 near milepost 114 when, for an unknown reason, her
vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane of travel and collided head on
with a 2002 Ford F-350 crew cab pick-up driven by David Jasper, age 49,
of Bend.
Both vehicles came to rest blocking the southbound lane of travel. As
a result of the impact the 2002 Ford pick-up flipped, coming to rest
onto its top.
Nutter, was reportedly extricated from the vehicle and transported by
ambulance for serious injuries, to an unknown local area hospital.
Jasper, and his passenger Sharon Murphy, 47, of Bend were
transported by ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Redmond for
injuries resulting from the crash.
All involved parties were reportedly wearing safety restraints at the
time of the crash. Air–bags in both vehicles reportedly activated at
the time of the collision.
OSP Troopers from the Bend Area Command are continuing the investigation.
Deschutes County Sheriffs Office, local area Fire and Rescue personnel, and ODOT assisted at the scene.
A portion of Highway 97 was closed to one-lane of travel for more than two hours.
