Log truck driver trapped when his truck plunges off Mount Ashland ski road

ASHLAND, Ore. -- Ashland firefighters pulled a log truck driver from a truck that had plunged off the Mount Ashland ski road Tuesday morning.

When firefighters arrived about 7 miles past Mount Ashland Ski Area's parking lot, they found the empty log truck 10 feet down a slope below Forest Road No. 40S15 at 6 AM. The driver was trapped inside the cab and a logging crew was trying to get him out.

The log truck cab was significantly damaged but firefighters secured the vehicle with a log skidder to prevent it from rolling further downhill while they spent 70 minutes working to free the driver. They used tools to remove portions of the cab to eventually free the driver.

The driver was uninjured.
