Medford hospital tracking prescription drug abuse

MEDFORD, Ore. - Several different local agencies are working to stop the abuse of prescription drugs. It's a problem that Medford Police say has been on the rise for the past few years.

This means more people walking into emergency departments and trying to walk out with prescription.

Denise Workman a nurse at Rogue Valley Medical Center sees repeat patients trying to get prescriptions. Workman says she has seen people trying to get drugs that they then sell to other addicts.

For the past two years they have been keeping close records, and are seeing results.  "I would say in the past two to three years we have been really very dilligant, and we are working more and more with the community providers," explained Workman.
