Keizer Woman Killed When Car Sideswipes Truck, Veers Off I-5 and Lands Upside Down on Road Below
WILSONVILLE, Ore. -- Oregon State Police troopers, with the assistance of the interagency
Clackamas County area crash investigation team (CRAFT), are continuing
the investigation into Wednesday morning's fatal traffic crash that
occurred south of Wilsonville on Interstate 5. The victim's name is
being released following next of kin notification.
According to Lieutenant Jason Bledsoe, on July 8, 2009 at approximately
5:15 a.m. a group of vehicles were northbound on Interstate 5
approaching milepost 282 in the area of a highway work zone where signs
were displayed indicating an upcoming lane restriction. One of the
vehicles, a 2003 Lexus four-door passenger car driven by LINDA MARIE
TRETHEWY, age 53, from Keizer, began to slow and attempted to move to
the right when it struck the side of a flatbed semi-trailer pulled by a
commercial truck driven by JUSTIN D. BOYER, age 33, from Cottage Grove,
Oregon.
After impact the Lexus continued back to the left where it traveled
northbound into the center median. It continued through a tall grassy
section and went off an estimated 25-foot drop where it landed on its
top on the Canby/Hubbard Highway.
TRETHEWY was using safety restraints and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
BOYER was using safety restraints and was not injured. He was driving for Far West Steel out of Eugene.
Investigators were assisted at the scene by the Clackamas County
District Attorney's Office, Clackamas County Medical Examiner, ODOT and
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.
No enforcement action has been taken and the investigation is continuing.
