YACHATS, Ore. -- The partial remains of an unidentified body found on the beach in Yachats Sunday afternoon.

According to Oregon State Police Sgt. Justin McGladrey, at about 3:30 p.m. a citizen walking on the beach in Yachats reported finding the partial remains of a body that appeared to have been in the ocean before washing ashore. OSP troopers and Yachats Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.

The remains were found about one mile north of where another body was found Dec. 3 in the surf line near Smelt Sands State Park. That body was positively identified five days later by the OSP Forensic Services Division as WILLIAM ARTHUR BODEWIG, 62, from Yachats. BODEWIG was one of two fishermen reported missing Nov. 18 after they failed to return from a local fishing trip between Yachats and Heceta Head.

The second man remains missing.
