Eagle Point Man Pleads Not Guilty to Attempted Aggravated Murder

An Eagle Point man wounded by a Jackson County sheriff's deputy during a standoff last February has pleaded not guilty to attempted aggravated murder.

Dan Waggoner appeared in a wheelchair at his arraignment Tuesday in Jackson County Circuit Court in Medford.

Deputies responded to Waggoner's home after getting a 9-1-1 call from the mother of three of Waggoner's children.

The woman said Waggoner had loaded firearms in the home, had fired a shot and was threatening suicide.

A sheriff's deputy shot Waggoner five times during the standoff.

A grand jury deliberated for less than 15 minutes before deciding the deputy was justified.
