UPDATED 7:12 PM: Ashland stand-off ends peacefully
ASHLAND, Ore. -- A man accused of shooting at police and hiding out in a home for 8 hours in Ashland is in custody.
Police said 27-year-old Benjamin David Kwiatkowski shot at police responding to a domestic disturbance call.

Police said Kwiatkowski assaulted an acquaintance Tuesday morning inside the home with a baseball bat.
Police said the acquaintance and his girlfriend left the scene before the S.W.A.T. team showed up.
Ashland police were using a bullhorn at 11 AM, instructing the stand-off subject identified as "Ben" that police want to resolve the situation peacefully and asking him to turn on his cell phone so police can talk to him directly but there was no response for hours.
Nearby homes were evacuated and some of the adjacent streets were blocked off.
Kwiatkowski surrendered Tuesday afternoon. Neighbors were then allowed to return to their homes.
He faces several charges including aggravated attempted murder and assault.
Police said alcohol was a factor and they are investigating the motive.
Kwiatkowski was arrested back in September on a DUII charge.
Neighbor Rick Brown said he is shocked it could happen in his neighborhood and wouldn't be surprised if the bad economy is partly to blame for the situation.
