Famous Violinist Teaches Students at Britt Strings Camp

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Students from around the nation got a thrill Thursday at Britt Festivals' summer strings camp as world-renowned violinist Midori met with them.

Nearly fifty college and high school students auditioned and were chosen to attend the 2-week camp. The intense course helps them study music and learn new practice techniques.

Their teachers say having a featured soloist instruct students is a rare opportunity.

"For these young artists who have grown up seeing her on the cover of CDs and on television, she's a hero to them. So it's a great opportunity and really one they could only get here at Britt," says Kurt Baldwin, camp instructor from the Arianna String Quartet.

The string camp students will perform two free recitals this Saturday in Ashland. They're at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Southern Oregon University Recital Hall.
