About DUI 100 Cases Dropped near Corvalis
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A former police officer in Corvallis is the focus of an investigation that has resulted in about 100 cases being dropped.
David Cox is accused of arresting a man for DUI, but that man tested negative for both alcohol and drugs.
Therefore, district attorney John Haroldson decided to drop about 100 cases where David Cox was the arresting officer.
"The issue really surrounded whether or not he was a viable witness given credibility issues that had arisen. Once he turned in his resignation in the face of that investigation that really brought us to a point where a firm decision was made that we would no longer be prosecuting any of David Cox's cases where he was a central witness," said John Haroldson, Benton County District Attorney.
The district attorney says it was when Cox resigned that he made the decision to drop all of the officer's cases.
