Oregon State Police troopers arrested two Washington men Thursday morning after a traffic stop on Interstate 5 south of Canyonville uncovered roughly a pound of cocaine.

At approximately 9:10 a.m. Thursday, an OSP trooper stopped a rented 2008 Chrysler 300 four-door sedan displaying Washington license plates for a lane change violation northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 88 about 50 miles north of Medford.

Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led troopers to find approximately 1/2 kilo (about 1 pound) of cocaine in the car's trunk. An OSP drug detection canine assisted in the seizure of the estimated $10,000 worth of cocaine.

Troopers arrested driver Oscar Omar Contreras Munoz, 22, and passenger Noel Rojas Garcia, 28, both from Arlington, Wash. They were lodged in Douglas County Jail for unlawful possession, distribution, and manufacturing of a controlled substance - cocaine.

OSP Drug Enforcement Section detectives assisted with the ongoing investigation.
