Cop Indicted on Theft, Misconduct Charges

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

COQUILLE (AP) - A Coos County grand jury has indicted a former police officer on theft and official misconduct charges.

Randy Ulmer appeared in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing before retired Curry County Judge Richard Michelson.

Current Coos County judges recused themselves because the case involved law enforcement in Coos County.

Ulmer is accused of taking cash out of the Coquille Police Department's evidence room. He resigned on Nov. 21 after being questioned about inconsistencies in the handling of seized property.

He was arrested by Oregon State Police troopers shortly after his resignation. Ulmer had been with the department since 1999.
