Oregon State Police Investigate the Car Accident Death of a Jacksonville Man
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Oregon state police say a 1986 Suzuki Samurai driven by 51-year old Donald Smith of Jacksonville was traveling westbound on highway 238 at milepost 30 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered over the center line into oncoming traffic and hit a Kenworth dump truck pulling a dump trailer.
The accident took place shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday on highway 238 about three miles west of Jacksonville.
Smith died of his injuries shortly after medics arrived.
It has yet to be determined whether he was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the dump truck, 61-year old William Brunston Jr. From Darby, Montana, was not injured.
The crash closed the highway to one lane of traffic for about two and a half hours.
