Fire Season Starts Friday in Ashland, ODF Lands in Southern Oregon
The Ashland Fire Department this morning announced that fire season will begin in the city and surrounding area on Friday, meaning outdoor burning will be banned and restrictions will be in place for logging operations.
The fire season declaration applies to all lands within the City of Ashland, as well as all state, county, private, and Bureau of Land Management lands protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) in Jackson and Josephine counties.
The fire threat is acute in Ashland because it is nestled against rugged, wooded terrain where a wildfire could do siginificant damage to buildings and property.
