Comments 0 | Recommend 0Three people are in jail tonight facing arson related charges in connection with some of the suspicious fires in Grants Pass.
More than forty suspicious fire causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage sparked authorities to create a new multi-agency task force to stop the string of suspected arsons.
And investigators say the three arrests are just the beginning.S
Jonathon Robert Davis,18, is in jail facing multiple arson related charges in connection with one of the suspicious fires.
Two other suspects are also in custody, they are just 15-years-old.
Investigators say these fires are costing the community a lot of time and money.
Joe Henner with the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety says, "It's a burden for us clearly, we've expended a considerable amount of time to not only the investigation but the control work suppressing and investigating the fire at the time they occurred."
Arson is suspected in fires involving five structures, four vehicles, eleven trash cans, five dumpsters, three pieces of furniture and fourteen grass fields all over the past two years.
Investigator Laura Zeliff says all of these fires are extremely dangerous.
"It's important that people don't just look at this as it's just a trash can or just a dumpster. it is a fire that has tremendous potential for loss of property as well as human life," she says.
Investigators also say more arrests and more charges are likely to come.
If anyone has any additional information about the fires they should call the authorities immediately.
