According to the Oregon State Police, two Henley High School cheerleaders were injured when their vehicle was struck by a truck as they were turning off Highway 39 into the high school's parking lot.

Police say the accident happened at about 7:00 this morning when a Chevy Suburban, driven by 16 year old Celia Zalunardo from Klamath Falls, tried to turn left into the lot. The Suburban turned in front of a northbound semi pulling a trailer loaded with wood chips and was hit in the passenger side.

Zalunardor received minor injuries and was taken to Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls. Her passenger, 14 year old Elizabeth Rico from Klamath Falls, was seriously injured and was taken by air ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

Both girls were using safety restraints.

The truck's driver, Kenneth Russell from Alturas, California, was also using safety restraints and was not injured.
