Dunsmuir Man's Close Call with Mountain Lion

Sheriff Warns People of Dunsmuir

The Siskiyou County Sheriff's office warns citizens of Dunsmuir about the danger of a mountain lion.

They say a man called the department Wednesday morning, telling a story of a mountain lion attacking and killing his rabbits in his back yard. The unidentified man says the mountain lion then turned its sights on him, and that's when he retreated back into his truck to get away from the big cat.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the man's home and searched a large area around the property, but did not see the animal anywhere.

The Department of Fish and Game was then contacted, but they're not going out to look for the mountain lion. They're simply warning people to keep an eye out for the animal around the Siskiyou Avenue area of Dunsmuir.
