Governor Kulongoski Visits Medford, Calls for Oregon Debate

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Oregon's governor paid a quick visit to Medford Thursday to push for debates between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama on Oregon issues.

Governor Kulongoski is a Clinton supporter. He's also a super delegate and has already pledged his vote to Clinton. The governor says he wants her potential road to the white house to include a debate in Oregon.

Thursday morning at the Medford library, Governor Kulongoski introduced what he called Clinton's "Oregon Compact," her goals for dealing with issues important to the state like restoring county payments and providing affordable health care.

He says with our primary only weeks away he wants both candidates to bring their campaigns here.

"This is our time to shine. I want the citizens of Oregon to help me to get two debates and get the candidates out here and let's have the debate be substantive," says Governor Ted Kulongoski (D-Oregon).

The Barack Obama campaign says there have already been many debates and says Senator Obama's focus is on meeting directly with Oregon voters about the issues. The campaign calls the debate request "an old, Washington game."

Obama picked up another Oregon superdelegate Thursday, First District Congressman David Wu.
