Bust Stops Meth Lab That Had Materials for 150 Pounds of the Drug
A multi-agency investigation involving the Mid-Columbia Interagency
Narcotics Task Force (MINT) and Canby Police Department led to the
seizure of suspected methamphetamine-related chemicals and materials at
a rural Wasco County home that would yield approximately $2.7 million
of methamphetamine.
The eight-month investigation led detectives from MINT, Canby Police
Department and Oregon State Police on Feb. 4 to serve a
search warrant at 365 NW Fourth St in Dufur. The investigation
reportedly involved individuals from the Canby area and eastern Oregon.
Detectives seized approximately 18 gallons of suspected P2P, a
chemical used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, which could yield
about 150 pounds of methamphetamine.
A suspect has been identified but no arrest made related to this
ongoing investigation. The case will be referred to the Wasco County
District Attorney's Office and the U.S. Attorney's Office for
consideration of charges.
P2P (Phenyl-2-propanone) is used in the methamphetamine cooking
process. P2P style labs are very dangerous and considered rare because
of the difficulty in obtaining the chemicals to complete the lab due to
purchasing restrictions. Specially trained OSP detectives were brought
in to assist with executing the search warrant.
The Mid-Columbia Interagency Narcotics Task Force is comprised of
detectives from Wasco County Sheriff's Office, The Dalles Police
Department, Hood River Police Department, Sherman County Sheriff's
Office, Hood River County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police.
