Auditions Held for Medford's "Broadway"
Comments 0 | Recommend 0More than fifty young performers were hoping they have what it takes to make it on Broadway, or at least an Oregon version of it.
The Children's Musical Theater of Oregon held auditions Saturday at the Craterian for young people age 11 through 21.
They're casting for parts in the 2009 production of "Broadway II - The Journey Continues." It's a follow-up to last year's spring production "Broadway - A Musical Journey."
The eight weeks of rehearsal and performance costs $250 per kid but everyone who auditions is cast in the show regardless of their experience.
"We teach everybody how to sing, dance and act. And by the end of the eight weeks in production they're in a professional level production," says artistic director John Taylor.
The seventeen musical and dance numbers for this show include songs from the "Lion King," "Footloose" and "Hairspray."
A second audition will be held for anyone interested this Monday at 5:00 p.m. at the Craterian Theater.
