A 32-year-old man drowned yesterday while swimming in a rock quarry in the Howard Prairie area near Medford.
Jackson County sheriff's deputies did not release the name of the victim pending notification of his family.
But deputies say he was swimming just before 5:30 p.m. when he became entangled in weeds after jumping off some low rocks near the water's edge.
At least a dozen other swimmers were at the quarry at the time, and one of them called 9-1-1.
Divers recovered the body about two hours later.
