Grants Pass Man Presumed Drowned In Rogue River

A Grants Pass man is presumed to have drowned in the Rogue River.

43 year old Steve Reed hasn't been seen since he jumped off a hundred foot high outcropping into the river yesterday. Search crews checked the riverbanks last night, but didn't find any sign of him.

Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilbertson says dive teams are evaluating the situation to determine if it's safe for them to go into the river, to try to locate and recover the victim's body.

Gilbertson says the river is very turbulent in that area, near Hawk Creek west of Grants Pass, and it may be too dangerous for divers to go into the water.
