Grants Pass Police Hunting For Burglar Who Escaped Capture This Morning
Grants Pass police who caught two burglars in the act early today were able to capture one of the subjects with the assistance of a scent-tracking dog.
Officers driving by saw two males exiting the Bikekraft store on Rogue River Highway just after midnight, attempting to steal two bikes. As the officers turned to contact the subjects, both fled from the scene. A dog tracked 25-year-old Wilderville resident Casen Deon Armstrong to a yard nearby and he was taken into custody on charges including second-degree burlary, first-degree theft, second-degree criminal mischief and interfering with a police officer.
The second male fled the area headed westbound on Rogue River Highway and could not be tracked. He left the bike he was attempting to steal in front of the business. The front door had been smashed and was the burglar's point of entry, police said.
Anyone with additional information on the second suspect in this case is asked to call the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety at 541-474-6370.
