Public Gets Sneak Peek at Airport Terminal

After a year and a half of construction the new Medford Airport terminal opens up to the public. Hundreds of people showed up for the terminal open house to get their first glimpse inside.

Guests got to see the observation deck and even got a backstage pass to view the path their luggage takes on and off airplanes.

The first flight from the new terminal is set to take off on January 11.

Airport operators the new facility will bring more airlines to the region.

Travelers will be relieved the year and a half of detours around construction to the old terminal are over.

One of the new terminal's designer's says this larger, up-to-date building will serve the community for years to come.

"This is a community that does fly a lot. And the current terminal was struggling with that. And I think when the economy comes back this terminal will be very busy," says Gene Abell, president of Abell Architectural Group

The project cost $4-million and was federally funded to make the airport safer.
