Comments 0 | Recommend 0Mr. Thom is back in business.
Two months ago Thom Martin's home and salon was lost in a huge fire on South Stage Road.
Now Martin is trying to start a new life at a new salon.
Investigators spent nearly two months looking for the source of the fire but because they say the flames did so much damage, the cause was declared "undetermined."
Now Mr. Thom is cutting and styling hair again at a downtown phoenix salon.
The Medford native says before his home and business were destroyed, he used to be known as a stylist of the stars.
He says he's struggling to adjust to a new life.
"It's a real change," he says. "It's a real change in my life. I love it here - it's just that it's hard to live where I'm living and walk outside and see the remainder of my house that's no longer there... that's sad."
Martin's living in a trailer near what's left of his home and the Mr. Thom's salon.
Investigators say they looked at electrical, human and natural causes but couldn't say for sure if any were responsible.
They say they believe the fire started on the back of the house near the deck but don't know exactly how.
An initial estimate put the loss of Martin's property in the millions of dollars, now Martin says he's battling with his insurance company and says he still hasn't received any money for his loss.
