BLM Serves Up 'Whopper' Environmental Statement

The timber industry and timber are calling for more production from federal lands.
Critics say the plan effectively removes many protections of the 1994 Northwest Forest Plan and resumes clear-cutting.
The BLM released its environmental impact statement today.
The American Forest Resource Council says the plan neglects forest health and requirements for a permanent and sustainable timber yield for local communities.
Most of the land is under the 1937 Oregon & California Lands Act, which bans cutting more timber than the forests can replace.
