Klamath County Unemployment Above 16%

Klamath County's unemployment rate went above 16% in May.
The latest figures show it's at 16.3%, up a point and a half since April.
Josephine County's unemployment rate is 15.8%, up half a point.
And Jackson County's unemployment is at 14.2%... also up about half a point since April.
Curry County's unemployment rate also took a big leap... from 13.9% in April to 15.6% in May.
At 12.8%, Lake County has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the region.
Douglas County, at 18.3%, has the highest unemployment in Southern Oregon.
Although some employers added jobs in May, it wasn't nearly enough to make up the loses of the past year.
Unemployment rates are roughly double what they were a year ago.
